(project created with Magdalena Dubnová)

The exhibition „I strained my eyes, and the gloom becomes dark“ is an open dialogue between the authors about things that transcend man. Both authors express themselves through analog photography, in which they see, from the essence of the media, a kind of metaphysical mystery. They look for motifs for their photographs at randomly on the road, in nature or thoughtfully and staged in the environment of everyday life. Some of the photographs come from finished projects by each of the authors, others are the result of a joint creative effort from a cottage in the Vizovice Hills. For example, the mutual casting of death masks or an expedition with a chair to the mystical peak of Mount Klášťov, which according to archaeological excavations served pagan ceremonies. Photographs can be understood as symbolic images of human transience drowned in the relativity of time, the existential vague emptiness that can be the meaning of being, or of hope arising from the aspect of the perpetuation of nature.
